Safeline introduces new safety brake pads for the Taxi industry
Safeline realised that it is crucial in the highly competitive Taxi industry that brake pads are changed at the correct time. Change them too soon and money is wasted by not using the brake pads to its full capacity, change them too late and it could damage the discs which will result in expensive repairs and revenue lost while the vehicle is being repaired. Worn brake pads and damaged disc could also lead to brake failure and fatal accidents. Chris Brand, Marketing and Sales Director for Safeline, says: "We realised the importance of timing the changing of brake pads in the Taxi industry and have come up with the answer. On each set of brake pads we have added a wear sensor. This sensor is a metallic clip that touches the disc and squeals a warning to the driver that the brake pads have approximately 500 km of braking power left and must be replaced."
This ingenious safety feature does not damage the braking system as it is manufactured from a soft brass compound that wears away quickly but makes a screeching noise while doing it. "At Safeline we put safety and value-for-money first. All our products boast ISO/TS 16949 accreditation, which is an automotive-related quality management system, covering all the elements of ISO 9001 but with additional requirements included that are specific to the motor industry. Our brake pads also conform to the minimum requirements as laid down in the most recent applicable Government Gazette," Brand added.
